Simple Minds announce 2027 UK arena tour with Gary Numan and new album Sacrosanct
08 October 2026
Scottish rock band Simple Minds are heading back on tour in 2027 with Gary Numan joining them as support for all seven dates of the UK tour and with Level 42 providing support on all dates across Europe.
Their brand-new V tour will follow the release of their forthcoming album 'Sacrosanct' which will be released on 29 January - the band's first studio album since 2022's 'Direction Of The Heart.'
Simple Minds are one of the UK's most celebrated bands and have sold more than 60 million records worldwide, scored five UK No.1 albums and their most celebrated song 'Don't You (Forget About Me)' which features on The Breakfast Club soundtrack has received over one billion streams on Spotify.
The Glasgow rockers released the first single 'Beginner Boys' from their forthcoming album last month which sees frontman Jim Kerr reflecting on what it takes to raise a good man through a 2026 lens and was inspired by watching his twin grandsons grow up. There will only be eight tracks 'Sacrosanct' which will be their nineteenth studio album and the tour will support this new release.
Describing the album's title, Jim Kerr said:
"We called the album Sacrosanct because after a lifetime of doing this - nearly fifty years of writing songs together - it's stopped feeling like a career and started feeling like something closer to faith. Calling the record Sacrosanct isn't an exaggeration. It's just honest."
As well as performing in seven cities in the UK (including a huge hometown arena show planned for the OVO Hydro in Scotland), Simple Minds will also take their 'V' tour to Europe, North America, with the tour kicking off in Australia and New Zealand in February and March, respectively in 2027. These dates will be followed by new dates across Europe, the UK and Ireland in April and May.
