The title race is heating up - Juventus vs Lazio

We continue with the 7th round of matches in Italy's Serie A, a league where many teams began the season with dreams of winning the title. Following four seasons in which the title was shared between Inter and Napoli, Inter are once again the favourites this season, whilst Juventus - the league's most successful side, having won the title nine seasons in a row - have now gone six seasons without a title. The black-and-whites, who were shaken by Kenan Yıldız's injury and subsequent operation back in late August, are expected to have to wait a further month for the return of their star player, who wears the number 10 shirt. Spalletti's side, having secured 11 points from the past six weeks, currently trail the top two teams by five points. Lazio, who were not considered contenders before the season began but have now shared the top spot with Inter after picking up 16 points from their first six matches, will face the Turin side this week. Juventus, who have only dropped points at home this season in a 1-1 draw against Milan, now have a good chance to at least close the points gap with Lazio. Any result other than a win - particularly a defeat - could force the Bianconeri to revise their targets downwards this season. If you wish to support your team in this must-win match to stay in the race at this early stage of the season, you'll need to be at the Allianz Stadium on Sunday evening.

Nevertheless

Although Lazio were not mentioned among the top five favourites for the title at the start of the season, they have made a strong start to the Serie A campaign and are looking to maintain this form; they have won all their matches apart from the home draw against Milan. Having finished the league in ninth place last season and lost to Inter in the Coppa Italia final - which meant we were unable to watch the blue-and-whites in European competition this season - setting the league title as their sole objective and focusing entirely on this goal could prove a significant advantage for the rest of the season. If you're curious to see what the capital club - which, under Gattuso's management following Sarri's departure, is keen to maintain its position at the top despite the tension between the fans and the chairman - will achieve in this challenging match, you might consider planning a short trip to Italy's first capital, a city renowned for its industry and automotive sector.

Juventus vs Lazio tickets

Although ending their quarter-century-long title drought with a surprise victory may not have seemed a particularly realistic goal for Lazio at the start of the season, the chemistry and performances displayed by players such as Frattesi, Tavares and Zacagni under Gattuso's leadership are reigniting hopes.
