Bayern Munich vs Borussia Dortmund - Germany's biggest match

Although it used to be far more exciting before Bayern Munich established their dominant reign in the Bundesliga in recent years, 'Der Klassiker' - which remains Germany's biggest match - is set to take place this Saturday evening. Bayern and Dortmund go into the match at the Allianz Arena level on points at the top of the table. This stands out as one of the key factors heightening the excitement and intensity of the match. The Ruhr-based side, which won back-to-back league titles in the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons to take their total to eight, has been fighting on without a title for 14 seasons. Bayern Munich, who have won the title 13 times in those 14 seasons, have only conceded one title to Bayer Leverkusen during this period. If Dortmund are to taste championship glory once more, the three points on this Saturday evening are absolutely crucial - both mathematically and psychologically.

The aim goes beyond the league: the Champions League

Whilst Bayern Munich have claimed 13 league titles in 14 seasons, they have also won the Champions League twice during the same period. With three European Cup titles and three Champions League titles (since the competition was relaunched in 1992), Bayern Munich are striving to add to these figures. In a competition where we have seen Paris Saint-Germain claim the title in the last two seasons, and Real Madrid do so frequently before that, Barcelona, Arsenal and Manchester City are also putting in a huge effort to reach the top. Although Vincent Kompany's attacking style of play makes his side perhaps the most entertaining to watch, this penchant for attack can backfire in the season's most critical matches. Due to an injury, Kompany is not expected to be on the bench for Saturday evening's derby. Whilst alternatives will need to be found on the left wing of the attack in the absence of Luis Díaz, Harry Kane - the first English man to win the Ballon d'Or in 25 years - will go into 'Der Klassiker' in high spirits. Guirassy, who remained at Dortmund despite being heavily linked with a move during the summer transfer window and is currently in superb form, will be the yellow-and-blacks' biggest asset. The duel between these two strikers is set to make for a thrilling Saturday evening.

Although the gap between these two German sides - who were rivals at the very top of the Champions League in the 2010s - has widened significantly in recent years, Niko Kovac is working tirelessly to bridge that gap, and this weekend could well be the day his efforts pay off. If you want to enjoy this thrilling evening to the full, Bayern Munich vs Borussia Dortmund tickets are just the thing for you.
